Another day another dollar

Since I have lost the charging cable for my laptop and none of my local stores carry a replacements for my obscure (cheap) netbook, I am stuck posting from my phone.  So please excuse my many typos due to auto correct.  :)

I said yesterday that I would better explain my crazy job and schedule.

I work with delinquent and at risk teenage boys between the ages of 11 and 18.  I love my job.  It gives me an amazing sense of fulfillment.  Unfortunately it is such a high stress job many people don't stick around for very long.  It has a huge turn over rate.  Sometimes its for the best.  This is the type of job that requires giving your all.  Case in point, 89 hours of ot the last two weeks.

Besides helping kids discover their potential after being told for the majority of their life that they are worthless, being beaten and abused.   Which is the best part of what I do by far!  I also get the pleasure of being surrounded by my amazing co-workers and friends.  We are a family as much as we are a team.  We work as hard as we play :). I'll share a few pics for proof.

Green Days!!

Well this weekend was full of fun times with the family.  Given how many hours I have been putting in at work (89 hours of OT this pay period) it was well deserved.

Johnston has an annual celebration called Green Days.  I am a sucker for any sort of celebration that involves parades, carnivals, and/or fireworks.  I love to do fun mostly free outdoor activities with the kids.

The parade was a blast.  Candy being thrown and the kids narrowly avoiding being hit by the floats... Does that only happen to mine?  No matter how close of an eye I think I keep on LBBA he always manages to give me some sort of mildly coronary at least once per outing.  He's so quick!

After the parade we hit the spaghetti dinner hosted by the JPD.  The best part was that it went to benefit my company!! This was the first time that I had been given the opportunity to be involved in fundraising for YHMA.  I invited my family along for the ride.  I was disappointed that it wasn't well advertised.  I work for an amazing organization, but I'll explain that I. A different post.

After lunch we headed home for a nap and waited for J to get home from work.  After he got home we headed to the carnival to ride the rides and spend some time as a whole family.  Which doesn't happen very often because of my crazy schedule.

Since I'm posting this on my phone it won't let me get creative with the photos but I'm straying some anyway!  :). Don't mine my crazy smiles it was hard getting everyone to hold still for group photos.
